Oral hygiene treatment

Oral hygiene treatment is a professional procedure performed in our clinic. It includes scaling, air polishing, and fluoride application.

Teeth scaling

Scaling involves the removal of dental calculus, which most commonly accumulates around the necks of the teeth. Dental calculus creates an ideal environment for bacterial growth. The buildup of calculus and plaque can lead to tooth decay, gum disease, and bone loss in the alveolar process, which may eventually result in tooth mobility and periodontal disease. Regular brushing alone cannot remove already formed calculus—professional cleaning at a dental office is necessary to eliminate it.

Teeth air polishing

Air polishing involves the removal of dental plaque and superficial stains—from sources such as coffee, tea, and other discoloring agents—using a device called an air polisher. The dental powder reaches all crevices and effectively removes deposits and stains, reducing the risk of tooth and gum disease while improving the aesthetics of the smile.

Fluoride treatment

Fluoride treatment protects against tooth sensitivity and decay. During the procedure, fluoride compounds—essential for the proper development of teeth and bones—are applied to the tooth surfaces. This is done using a special fluoride gel or foam.

Indications for dental hygiene:

  1. Every person should undergo professional dental hygiene at least twice a year to prevent dental and periodontal diseases.
  2. Hygienic procedures are especially important before, during, and after orthodontic treatment with a fixed appliance, as well as before orthognathic surgery.
  3. Professional hygiene is also essential prior to tooth whitening to enhance the whitening effect.

At our clinic, dental hygiene procedures are performed by both dentists and dental hygienists. We warmly welcome you!
